Say what you will…. But we was talking about doing this shit since we were teenagers. Now I'm def not trying to say that it was easy or we have it all figured out. What I am telling you is that you can make anything happen if you really believe in it. Because we are not shit and we out here. I know thats corn ball and you already know the shit so lets get into it…..
As teenagers having our own store was a dream. Our passion, sacrifice and hard work has made that dream a reality.
Skateboarding, sneakers and clothes were the foundation that Established our friendship in 2004. Mike and I met at a local spot called the "church.” First because it was a church, but more importantly the after school skate spot / boxing glove Battle Royale location. We never boxed each other but we did talk Nike Skateboarding. From that point we would explore every nook and cranny in the city. Going to every side of town hitting all the spots searching for the stuff that no one else had.
$60 Nike Dunks and Blazer SBs from Rise skateboard shop in 04-05. $50 Nike Air Stabs from Lafayette Square Mall and bootleg Bape hoodies from Peddlers Mall in 2006. Nike Air Huaraches and Lemar and Dauley from GotSole in 2007. 2008 Mettalic Air Max 97s for $79 from Deveroes. 5 for $20 tall tees at champs. $30 Polo Ralph Lauren from TJ Maxx.
I can still recall some of the fits from high school 2004-2007. Dark wash Girbauds with green straps, De La Soul Dunk hi, Lime green tee (tall). Mike was rocking earth tone button down Polos with Levis and Timberland Boots. I remember him having some Nike Dunk SB Golf pack with the flap on. I can’t make this shit up.
Boom Fast forward….
College Bloomington. Ivy Tech not IU. Community College Dropout. We worked all the jobs we could. Finish line, Footlocker, Dicks Sporting Goods, Goodwill, Lids, and Smiths Shoe Center to get the skills necessary.
As time goes on our knowledge broadens as our experience with different brands grows. After 10 years of experience in retail the timing and opportunity to open Quality became reality in 2015.
I'm humbled to know sitting here as I recall these memories that I am still chasing that same dream I had when I was a teenager. I'm still searching for…… Quality.
Quality Brand is the re-creation of the memories of our childhood. The "fuck you" to some and "I love you" to others. At it's most basic form, these designs are intended to make you think. This is Art. Nobody knows what it means but its provocative.
As we tell our story and share our voice through the graphics and products we create our goal is to build meaningful relationships with the people of our community. Spotlight ill shit happening in the city of Indianapolis. A city we are proud to be from. A city we want to support.
More to come…..
